General outline of a One Day Workshop

The day will start at 9.00 am with the morning session covering body language, herd dynamics and communication with the horse. Also we will cover training methods of 'pressure and release' and timing which will be accompanied by groundwork exercises.

Other ground work exercises in the morning session will include body work involving stretching, bending and flexing exercises which will enhance the horse's suppleness.

The afternoon session will start off with a little more ground work and then some ridden work, focusing on clarifying commands, bending, moving the different parts of the horse i.e. shoulders and hips independently.

We will also practice some of the tasks that were covered in the groundwork exercises in the morning session, but this time under saddle in walk, trot or canter, depending on the skill level of the participants and their horses. We will finish between 4.00 pm and 4.30 pm.
